Single-system operator... What does that mean?

"Quite simply... When you book HAPPY HOUR DJ SERVICE, you're booking me (DJ Eddie) and my 15+ years of experience in producing entertainment, and performing at special events.   I don't need to sell or try to hype 'weekend warriors' or hourly employees.  My success is based solely on MY OWN performance:  Performance in finely tuning the details prior to the event, and performance of implementing those details at the event.  It is dedication and service that cannot be matched by anyone, other than an experienced single-system operator."

Uniqueness!
Being a single-system operator means that I don't have to follow any 'set format' or training manual...
Your unique thoughts and ideas can be a reality, as we discuss them in detail, prior to your special event!

Wedding Receptions?
Every performance of mine  is different from the last.
I work with some of the most sought-after, unique, and innovative event planners in the Metro Detroit area!
If you want some different ideas to add spice, or variation from the 'typical' wedding reception, I can give you some new ideas to consider.

You want your guests to dance?
You want your guests to have a great time?
You want to host a unique event?
You want to host a successful event?
DJ Eddie is here to make it happen!

You're one performer... Are you the right dj for EVERY kind of event?

No.
What I do, I do well.  I don't need to pretend or mislead anyone into believing that, no matter what type of dj they're looking for, I'm the guy. Again, I don't have multiple systems that I need to book...  Only me.  If I don't think that I'm the right dj for your event, based on your criteria, I'll tell you.  In most instances, I'll even recommend someone more appropriate.

Right now, without going any further, I can tell you that if any of the following three paragraphs contain qualities that you are looking for in a dj, then you should probably consider another service:

1)  Comedy.  While we do dress appropriately for Halloween and Theme Parties (you can see some of those pictures on the homepage slideshow), we won't dress ourselves, you, your guests, or bridal party up in goofy costumes (i.e. Village People, Funky Chicken, Blues Brothers, whatever) and parade around the room at your reception!  Ditto on the inflatable instruments, glo-sticks, or any of the other 'novelty house' items...
I know some people like that kind of stuff, and that's fine, there's lots of dj's that offer that.
But, not me... We'll have a great time without the cheese!

2)  Singing.  I would never subject you and your guests to my singing.  I'm not talking about karaoke here... There are some dj's who actually 'sing tunes' at their event.

3)  Christian, Country, and Latin music.  These are three types of music that actually have their own Hot 100 lists.  I have current selections available from all three (through my subscription service), and of course I know, and play the popular material... But, unlike just about all other formats of music, I don't listen to, or try to stay in tune with 'what's happening' with these formats.  In other words, while I can play requests, I don't want to be put in a position to have to play a whole night of any of these types of music.  There are Country dj's, there are Christian dj's,  and there are Latin dj's... If you're having an event where the predominant theme will require a majority of music to be from any of these three formats, you should hire a dj who specializes in that respective format.

What kind of equipment do you use?

HAPPY HOUR DJ SERVICE'S equipment is commercial grade and state-of-the art.  Premium product lines, from the most trusted and respected manufacturers in the world assure you and your guests of experiencing the best possible sonic and visual presentation in all situations and surroundings!

SOUND:  1 QSC PLX-3002 Amp, 1 QSC USA-900 Amp (back-up), 2 Technics Turntables, 1 Denon DN-2100F 'Dual-Well' CD Player, 1 Stanton 'Dual-Well' CD Player (back-up), 1 Denon DN-X800 Combination Digital/Analog Mixer (brand new innovation and product!), Numark Mixer (back-up), BBE Sound Processor, 6  '3-Way' GLI Model 1 Speakers (each featuring twin 15" Woofers and capable of handling 1,000 watts), 2 Audio-Centron stand-supported speakers (for smaller events and venues), 1 Shure SM58 Corded Mic, 1 Audio-Technica Wireless Mic, 1 Nady cordless mic,  1 Furman PL-8 Power Conditioner.  TOTALS:  3,900 Watts of Clean Sound from up to 8 Available Speakers (we use 2 speakers for events under 350 people). The DJ Super Computer (see below) has replaced the cd players for most events.

LIGHTING AND EFFECTS:  HAPPY HOUR DJ SERVICE provides AT NO ADDITIONAL COST, 16 feet of incredible 'Club Style' Lighting; including (2) Martin Starflashes (Cone and Triple Beam), Martin Destroyer, Martin Punisher, ADJ UFO, Club Size (not the little toys) Beacon, ADJ Laser, (2) ADJ Strobes, fog machine (only used at client's request), and (8) 300 watt par cans with colored gels that keep your dance floor illuminated the whole evening with exciting chasing, audio-sync, and color wash effects.  All 'Effect Lights' are controlled by a Lightcraft control panel, and power packs.  All 'Par Cans' are controlled by an NSI control panel, and SUNN dimmer packs.  All lighting are supported on (4) Ultimate Support stands with 4' crossbars up to 12' high, overlooking the dance floor...I don't use a truss, because trusses don't fit in all rooms.  With separate stands, I can place lighting much more strategically, effectively, and as needed (our clients have complete decision over how much, or how little, lighting they desire).  TOTALS:  17 Lights and Effects totaling over 6,000 Watts!

OPTIONS:  Professional Mini-DV Camera for HAPPY HOUR HIDDEN VIDEO.  Our own commercial tent/canopy (12x12) for outdoor events.  Generator for outdoor events.  Portable, 'Mini-System' for remote location Ceremonies.  Additional microphones and stands for 'sound reinforcement', corporate, and stage show events.  Portable dance floor also available

OH YEAH!!

In April 2006, I custom-built a 2 space 19" rack-mountable 'DJ Computer'!
I could have done this years ago, but I finally believed, at that time, that the right software and hardware were finally ready for me.  I have a rigorous club and special event schedule, so reliability and performance were of the utmost concerns.  Well, as of March 2008, I can tell you that, with the exception of one 'freeze' during a sound check in early May 2007, the system has performed flawlessly!

Of course, it's loaded with the latest and greatest stuff:  AMD 64 Bit 3200+ Processor, Gigabyte Motherboard, 2 gigs of ram, One 80 gig system drive, One 320 Gig music drive, Maya 44MKII PCI Soundcard, One external 500 Gig Back-UP Hard Drive, 64 Bit PCI Riser, 550Watt Power Supply, 5 Case fans, and BenQ DVD player/recorder.  I am using the PCDJ FX software for music programming, PCDJ Karaoke for karaoke, along with the PCDJ DAC-3 Controller for playing.  I am ripping cd's to mp3 format at 192 kbps.  Additionally, I use a 17" Samsung LCD Monitor.
So, now, all CD Players, and CD's have been relegated to onsite-backup equipment status.

What if you're already booked for my date?

One of the best things about booking HAPPY HOUR DJ featuring DJ Eddie, is that you deal with DJ Eddie  the whole way, up to, and through your reception.  For clients who book us, that's great!  For clients that want us for a date that we're already booked for, it's not.  There are some instances where we may have an afternoon event booked, and can still do an evening event, but that's kind of rare.  There are a select number of other professional dj services in our area that I am confident in, and who I know, will have your best interest at heart.  I would be more than happy to refer you to these services at your request.

When should you book?

If you want DJ Eddie to be your emcee and dj, then soon!
No simpler way to put it, because there's no better answer.
Because Happy Hour DJ featuring DJ Eddie is a single-system service, it generally only takes one client to close out a date.
It's a strange biz... We could be open this coming Saturday, but booked on a Sunday 2 & 1/2 years from now.

Good advice:  Book your entertainment as soon as your hall is solidified.

Please check our availability to find out if we are open for your date.  Click on the Check Availability form.
